A thesis questionnaire is one of the “tools” that many thesis writers use to conduct research. Yet, before you get down to preparing your thesis questionnaire, we advise you to learn some simple principles of making them so that you really benefit from using this method.
Principle 1
The main rule you should keep in mind is that your thesis questionnaire should be rather simple, easy to read and understand. The participants of your survey should not waste time trying to get the meaning of your questions or answering too many questions. The easier your thesis questionnaire is, the more benefits you will get from it.
Principle 2
Your thesis questionnaire should start with a kind of abstract. In the abstract, you should briefly explain what your research is all about, why you are making this thesis questionnaire, how people’s responses will contribute to your work.

People were on the Moon. People are exploring the outer space. But people still have mysteries on their own planet. So many unexplored places and phenomena are still waiting for their discoverers. One of such unexplored places is the Himalayas, where mysterious Yetis live. Of course, people do not know where Yeti’s village is, and they are not friendly neighbors, but the fact that Yetis exist cannot be denied. Too many proofs are already found.
Unexplored Areas.
First of all, it is necessary to note that western people knew nothing about Yeti up to the 20th century, because those territories were closed for them. Western mountaineers, scientists and simply activists started researching the territories of the Himalayas relatively recently, from the early 20th century. Before that time the Himalayas especially their Nepalese and Tibetan part was absolutely unexplored. Moreover, it was almost uninhabited.
Different People Usually Do Not Tell the Same Story.
It is surprising, but Indian, Nepalese and Tibetan people describe the mysterious creature in the same way. Of course, they give different names to the mystical inhabitants of the mountains: Yeti, Metoh-Kangmi, Meh-The and many others. Too many legends and stories give the same precise description of the creature: huge, dark-haired, human-like, and bipedal.
It Cannot Be Seen, But It Can Be Heard.
Some people may argue that those are silly legends of rural people. But a lot of villages, western mountaineers and scientists heard the horrible sound, which was a roar of some unknown creature. It is so terrifying that some people do not risk not only to go and look what it is, but even do not risk to move. And in the Himalayas people have to hear such roars very often, as if it was a kind of recurrent call.
Too Many Witnesses Exist.
Apart from folklore, legends, and horrible sounds a lot of people report that they saw or even met Yeti. The local police officers often receive reports from people who saw Yeti, or witnessed how it attacked their livestock. A lot of people write books about their experiences in the Himalayas. For example, Reinhold Messner, in his book My Quest for the Yeti, wrote how he met Yeti; he also depicted some stories of local people who saw this creature.
Abundance of Tracks Found.
It is widely known that a lot of people find many huge tracks which cannot pertain to any of known animals. Such tracks were also photographed and thoroughly analyzed. Some people argue that a lot of photographs provided by explorers can also present tracks of different known animals (bears or even foxes) deformed by snow melting. Though, there are many transparent tracks, and the vast majority of scientists admit that these tracks can belong to creature like Yeti: large, human-like and bipedal.
No Animal Usually Remains Such Tracks.
Not only tracks Yeti leaves; people often discover other evidences of its existence. Yeti is unlikely to attack people, it often attacks animals. People often find animals’ remains: bodies torn in two parts, bones neatly put in some places. Too few animals in the Himalayas can be so strong, and there are no doubts that bears or other animals do not usually act so accurately.
Too Few Expeditions Were Held.
Some people argue that Yeti should have been found long time ago, since a lot of expeditions came to the Himalayas. But not so many were there. Actually, only few (not more than 10) competent expeditions went to the mountains to find Yeti, or at least some evidence of its existence. It is worth mentioning, that one of the members of such expedition, Desmond Doig, admitted that their expedition was too clumsy and slow, with all that equipment. They did not even film, photograph or at least meet any big animal, to say nothing of Yeti.
The Himalayas Are Too Hard to Explore.

“Good clothes open all doors”, says one famous proverb. And we have to admit the wisdom of our predecessors. The first impression really matters.
So, you have finished writing your dissertation – the most serious and important project in your academic life – and now it is time to think about dissertation binding. This is why our today’s topic is dissertation binding.
For centuries to come…
The main purpose of dissertation binding is to protect your project (you have worked so hard on) from any possible harm — at least this was the purpose of dissertation binding in classical times. Nowadays, it is also a requirement you have to meet.
Dissertation binding rules
In our times, dissertation binding pursues several goals.
- First of all, it is an obligatory requirement you cannot ignore.
- Second, hard cover contains some pockets for CD’s, additional materials, photos, etc. – so without proper dissertation binding your paper will be inconsistent.
- Third, it is convenient for the reader to read and use bounded projects.
There are several major rules of dissertation binding that you should be aware of:
- Usually, there are no restrictions on paper size, but optimal is A4. Dissertation binding in the form of a massive tome would be quite extravagant.
- 100gsm paper is best for reading purposes. You do not want your dissertation to weight like several bricks, do you?
- The maximum number of pages in one volume is 400, but it is advised to split such papers into two volumes.
- Use 3cm margins for the spine edge of pages and 2cm for other edges.
- Print photographs on the sheets of the same size.
- It is recommended to use acid-free paper to avoid paper corrosion.
- Different companies use different ways of dissertation binding. So, find such company that can satisfy the requirements for dissertation binding set by your particular institution.
